DAY
TRAINING PROGRAM

Day training is a program that teaches valuable
skills through training or gives individuals the opportunity to
participate in various activities. Though day training programs
generally take place at a center, groups may participate in activities
that take them out into the community. Some individuals may
require all day programs (about six hours, five days a week), while
others may be successful with just a part time program.
Day training programs give individuals the
opportunity to learn personal skills such as self care, and daily
living skills such as staying healthy or balancing a check book.
Some day training centers have activities in place that teach not
only job related skills but communication skills, social skills,
and advocacy while others may provide sensory stimulation, or music
and art therapies to help individuals learn valuable skills.
