Cerebral
Palsy -- sometimes called CP -- is the name given to certain disorders
that affect movement. Cerebral Palsy can occur when the part
of the brain that controls movement is damaged before, during, or
soon after birth. The brain ("cerebral") damage
can result in poor muscle control ("palsy"). Cerebral
palsy can affect how a person walks, sits, eats, writes and talks.
No two people are affected by cerebral palsy in the same way.
For some people who have it, cerebral palsy is not very noticeable,
while others may be very severely affected.
