Your
Name Is Brett

I
know that you don't know
What
this poem is about
Your
name is Brett
And
I love you without a doubt
Even
when you throw your food
on
the ground
And
when you get excited
And
flap your arms around
Even
when you pull my hair
"Ouch
that hurts!"
And
crawl around and
look
up skirts
Even
when you kick me and laugh
Because
you think it's funny
And
when you get that evil grin
And
I know that you're not as sweet as honey
Even
when you close your mouth as tight as you can
When
you see your medicine coming
You
can't talk
All
you're doing is humming
Even
when I call Grandma and Grandpa
With
tears in my eyes and frustration in my voice
And
they say be strong and brave
Because
you have no choice
Even
when we take you to therapy
And
you still can't walk
And
they tell me
You
never will talk
Even
when you are having a seizure
And
turning blue
I
feel so helpless
I
don't know what to do
You
look at me with those big blue eyes
And
a wide smile that won't quit
I
guess I won't get mad
Or
have a major fit
You
have Angelman Syndrome
So
you life is such
Your
name is Brett
And
I love you very much
