Summer Camps

 

We are constantly looking for activities, camps, programs and respite care providers for children with special needs, especially during the summer months.  All information submitted to us will be listed here..  Please visit us often as we will continue to update this list as more information becomes available.

  •  

    AUTISM

     

    Camp St. John's, Switzerland, FL

    Activities include: Swimming, Boating, Fishing, Arts & Crafts, DJ & Dance, Reptile Show, Petting Zoo, Horseback Riding and more. Every camper has a one-to-one buddy assigned 24 hours. On site nurse available 24 hours a day.  Please contact Patrick Kennedy for information about tuition and an application at (904) 356-0810. 134 E.   • Kris' Camp , FloridaAutism Summer Camp, in Naples , FL is run by the John Maxwell Biasco Foundation.

  • Holistic Therapy Solutions, in Plantation , offers a summer camp for children with autism. They also offer a camp for pre-teens with Aspberger's Syndrome, PDD, ADHD to learn responsibilities for volunteering, as well as social skills.   • Surfer's Healing runs surfing camps for autistic children in Cocoa Beach .

    Success Oriented Achievement Realized (SOAR) features success-oriented, high adventure camp programs for LD, ADHD and ADD preteens, teens and adults. They hold programs in several locations, including the Florida Keys .

     

    BEHAVIOR

  • Camp E-Kel-E-Tu -- Forest-Eckerd Camp.  Focuses on behavior issues.  Contact Sparrow Matthews at 625-1323 for more information.

  • DEAF-BLIND

  • Camp Challenge, in Lake County , Sorrento , Florida , is an Easter Seals camp.

  • Camp Endeavor, in Dundee , FL , is a privately supported, non-profit summer program designed and originated to serve deaf and hearing impaired youth.

  • CANCER

    Camp Good Days and Special Times, in Tampa , provides a camping experience and much more for children touched by cancer, their siblings, children who have a parent with cancer, or whose lives have been touched by violence or other life challenges.

    R.O.C.K. Camp. "Reaching Out to Cancer Kids" and R.O.C.K. Weekends are part of a summer program sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  Contact (800) 444-1410 or visit them on the web at http://www.cancer.org.  For information in Ocala, contact Peg Iwata at 629-4727.

    DEVELOPMENTAL

    Camp Thunderbird, near Orlando , FL , provides a camping experience for all types of children with disabilities. It also runs some adult camps.

    MENTAL & PHYSICAL

    Camp Challenge. A summer program located in Sorrento that serves the mentally challenged, deaf and blind with a self esteem specialty.  Contact (352) 383-4711 or email mikec@esfl.org

    Conductive Education Center of Orlando holds summer camps and year round classes for children with motor challenges.

    Ft. King Municipal Tennis Center A.C.E. (Achievement through Challenge and Exercise) Tennis.  For individuals with physical and mental challenges who are ambulatory.  Classes offered on Mondays from 6-7 p.m.  Equipment is provided at no cost.  Contact them at 629-8453.

    Galaxy East Lanes - We Who Care Bowling For individuals of all ages with mental retardation, every Saturday from 2 - 4 p.m.. Contact Ruth Johnson at 629-1903.

  • North Florida Rotary Youth Camp, near Gretna , is intended for any child, age 9-16, with a physical limitation, which would make it difficult or impossible to participate at other camps.
