FDLRS provides Diagnostic and Instructional
Support Services to district Exceptional Student Education programs
statewide.
Four of their major functions are:
Child
Find, provides assistance in the location, identification, and
evaluation of all children and youth, 0-21 years with emphasis on
children 0-5 years of age who are not being served in public school
(kindergarten to age 21) or who have or are at risk of developing
special or unique needs, and initiate appropriate education or other
needed services.
Human Resource Development, assists districts
in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive system of
personnel development necessary to the education of children and
youth who are exceptional and/or have unique needs based on locally
assessed needs and established priorities.
Parent Services assist districts in development
of partnerships between families and professionals which will allow
for shared responsibility for improving the education of children
and youth who are exceptional and/or have special or unique needs.
Technology
provides assistance and support in the appropriate use of assistive,
instructional, and communications technologies for professional
staff and for children and youth who are exceptional and/or have
special or unique needs.
In the area of Transition,
FDLRS provides Reference and Resource Materials and offers Self-Advocacy
Training.
Services are available to district, agency,
community, parents and other personnel working with exceptional
students through age 21.
This location services Marion, Alachua, Citrus,
Dixie, Levy and Gilchrist counties.
